If joining the full rally, contact any of the above,

  1. Boats entered for the Rally must be under the control of a person who is a member, in good standing, of IWAI (any branch)
  2. All boats entered must have adequate insurance (minimum Third Party)
  3. Boats should have adequate crew during all boat movements
  4. All Rally participants must submit a signed Entry Form and pay the Rally fee
  5. Boat skippers and crew should comply with instructions given by Lock crews at each lock; whether these be Waterways Ireland staff or IWAI Volunteer crews.
  6. Boats using mooring facilities on the Liffey must comply with conditions set by the relevant authority ( DDDA, Poolbeg Club, Dublin Port)

The Dublin Rally

The Dublin Rally is from May 9th to 23rd this year and we welcome all who will make the trip from the Erne, the Shannon, the Barrow and the Grand Canal

  Fleet descends from 12th Lock to the Grand Canal Basin

Ceremony marking the completion of the Flood Defences and Sea Lock at Spencer Dock (Royal Canal) at 3:30 pm
In attendance will be Martin Mansergh, Minister of State at the Department of Finance with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Dublin’s Lord Mayor Eibhlin Byrne
and John Martin, Chief Executive of Waterways Ireland. 
IWAI will also be in attendance. Followed by drinks at the Clarion Hotel.

assemble Municipal Rowing Club (between Neptune and Garda Rowing Clubs) in Chapelizod, 6:30pm - see google map here

There are parking facilities. It should also be noted, that there is no slip facility for launching and that boats will have to be lifted into water - it is therefore only suitable for small inflatables or similar that can be easily lifted in and out. We suggest that people should wear weather shoes/runners as feet will get wet.

Cruise on River Liffey,
including Small Boat Rally

Cruise from Grand Canal Docks/Poolbeg to Islandbridge

The following are the tide tables for the weekend.

High tide on Saturday is at ~17:40. 

Boat skippers intending to take part in this event should note the advice given on navigating the Liffey which is a tidal waterway.

(1) Skippers of boats taking part in the Liffey trip should advise the Rally Organisers in advance

(2) Passage through the Ringsend Sea Lock will take place between 12.00 and 14.00 on that day

(3) Lock back into Grand Canal Dock after the rally from 18:30.

(4) Depending on air draft (excess of 2 meters) boats should be available at Victoria Quay by 15.00 on Sat 16th to avail of the tide ( High Water 17.45)

The cruise will be followed by a BBQ at 7pm
