"4E" attended the fortieth Shannon Harbour Canal Boat Rally and after a Derg and Shannon rally, entered the Royal Canal at Richmond Harbour on Sunday August 15th, 2011. A slow month or two was spent gathering history from the section of the canal where she worked in the 1950’s before crossing the summit level and dropping to Leixlip to lay up for the Winter. The first Rail bridge lift in April 2012, moved us into Dublin for six weeks and the subsequent run down the Grand Canal to the forty first Shannon Harbour rally and the completion of our journey.
4E was built in 1895 as a horse drawn barge but present power source is a BMC Commodore. Principal dimensions are, length 61’. Beam 13’7, Draught 3’2. Air draught 9’2.
More information on the boat is found here.
